Churaibari Sept 01: A rally and protest program was organized by the I.N.D.I.A Bloc in Rajnagar, demanding arrest of BJP members who were allegedly involved in a clash with CPIM and Congress supporters.
The incident has intensified political tensions in Kadamtala, surrounding the swearing-in ceremony at Rajnagar Gram Panchayat.
According to reports, on the day of the incident, the BJP filed a case against seven CPI-M and Congress activists at the Kadamtala police station. In response, the I.N.D.I.A bloc leaders also lodged a counter-case against eleven BJP members the following day.
The altercation occurred on August 30, during the Rajnagar Gram Panchayat oath-taking ceremony at the Rajnagar Community Hall.
The event, attended by the Kadamtala Block Officer and Panchayat Officers, concluded without issues.
However, a verbal dispute between the two parties escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in minor injuries to several BJP workers.
Mandal leaders intervened to rescue the injured BJP karyakartas. Reports also indicate that CPIM and Congress supporters sustained minor injuries.
Apart from this, the clash led to the destruction of chairs, tables, and other furniture in the community hall, causing concern among local residents over the damage to government property.
Following the incident, BJP Mandal leaders surrounded the Kadamtala police station, demanding the arrest of those involved. Shortly after, MLA Islam Uddin and CPIM- Congress supporters filed a counter-case against eleven BJP members.
In protest, CPIM- Congress workers held a joint demonstration at Rajnagar Bazar on Saturday evening.
During the protest, Rajnagar secretary Zahrul Haque and Congress leader Manik Lal Das addressed the media, alleging that BJP miscreants had orchestrated the attack in front of the police.
The agitators called for the immediate arrest of the culprits and warned of a larger movement in Kadamtala if a proper investigation is not conducted.
Meanwhile, the situation remains tense as both parties await further action from the authorities.
