Kailashahar July 29: After being severely criticized by local people for quite a long time, Sai Computer Ltd – a private company for power distribution management in Kailashahar – held a press meet on Friday and alleged amount of unpaid bills from a particular area – Srinathpur under Gournagar block in Kailashahar runs above Rs 13 lakh.
The company representatives said, a huge amount of unpaid bills is posing problems for Sai Computer in providing better services and they would be forced to snap the power connection in Srinathpur area very soon unless consumer clears their dues.
Addressing the media, Project in charge of Sai Computer Ltd, Goutam Ghosh said electric bills of Rs 13 lakh 25 thousand 282 are lying unpaid in Srinathpur area and 793 customers are the defaulters.
“The bills remained outstanding from September 2020 when Sai Computer assumed charges of power distribution in Kailashahar. Total Rs 45 thousand 811 were collected from 124 customers whereas 793 customers are yet to pay their pending bills”, Ghosh said.
He was accompanied by Assistant Manager Bikram Singh, Sai maintenance in charge Santanu Saha and Engineer Partha Pratim Deb Sarkar.
After presenting the details of electric bill payments, Ghosh said two transformers collapsed in different areas at Srinathpur recently - one 63 KV transformer became non-functional on 28 June and another 63 KV transformer collapsed on July 4.
On both occasions, Sai computer authority talked about the unpaid electric bills before repairing of the transformers – and consumers assured that they would clear their dues without fail – however, the consumers did not keep their word as only one of the customers paid his bill of Rs 490.
Under such a situation, Sai computer will be compelled to adopt stern actions against the defaulters of Srinathpur.
“It is impossible for us to run the show while the amount of unpaid continues to grow. We have started sending notices to defaulters and it is likely that we would be forced to snap the connection in around 600 households very soon”, the Project in charge commented.
