Agartala/Kumarghat June 12: LAMPS and PACS are the key to the development of cooperative movement in the state. The upliftment of the socio-economic life of the people in cooperatives and rural areas depends on the development of LAMPS and PACS. And for this, a realistic thought process with respect to the present situation must be introduced.
Cooperatives Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said this at the review meeting of Unakoti and North districts of the Cooperative Department at the conference hall of Kumarghat Primary Marketing Cooperative Society Limited here on Monday.
Amlendu Das, president of Unakoti Zilla Parishad along with other dignitaries remained present at the meeting.
Addressing the review meeting, Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said that from the meeting we are informed about the problems and potential aspects of LAMPS, PACS and primary marketing of the Cooperative Department.
In the next phase state wise review meetings will be held to adopt new plans to strengthen the cooperative movement and help the rural masses.
He said, “LAMPS and PACS must not remain confined to getting loans from banks. Just as the bank loan has to be paid on time, LAMPS and PACS must also come forward in production”.
Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia also said that many LAMPS in the state are augmenting their income by supplying raw material for the products produced by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.
Shivendra Ghosh, chairman of Kumarghat Primary Marketing Cooperative Society Limited said, “Everyone should join hands to strengthen LAMPS and PACS financially”.
Officials of LAMPS and PACS of the two districts also presented their views in the review meeting.
At the beginning of the review meeting, a minute's silence was observed to mourn the victims of the recent horrific train accident in Baleshwar.
