Agartala/Ambassa June 27: In a new development divisive politics is palpable after Tipra Motha candidate in Surma who was supported by Congress secured second position. This time the division has a new dimension as it is based on caste and religion – not just ethnicity, any more. This became evident from the statement made by Tipra motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s Facebook post.
After the Tipra Motha became successful in pushing behind CPM to the 3rd position and secured 2nd position in 46-Surma, party’s chairman Debbarma hailed his party workers. He mentioned in a separate comment that minorities and SC people voted for the party.
“I appeal to all my YTF warriors to go and protest all those people especially the minorities and SC who have voted for us. Stand by them in their bad days and they will stand by us after six months”, Debbarman wrote in a Facebook post.
With his special reference to the minorities and SC people of Surma, it apparently appears that Debbarma is trying to divide the society further on the line of caste and religion.
In another comment he named a few general constituencies whwre the TIPRA motha would field their candidates.
“The results in Surma indicate that Tipra Motha now can compete and fight tooth and nail apart from 20 reserved seats”. , he said and added the names of the seats that were in his mind : “Panisagar, Amarpur, Teliamura, Mohanpur, Kalyanpur, Nalchar, Pabiachhera, Bamutia, Matabari, Dhanpur, Chandipur, Boxangar, kamalpur, Sabroom, Hrishyamukh, Fatikroy Majhlishpur and many more” .
He said in another post : "I am proud of my warriors - you have created a history,BJP may have a MLA for 6 months and after 2023 it will be ours .
First time in the history a regional party has come second from a non ST Seat ahead of CPIM and TMC . We will prepare for 2023 even more stronger from now on."
