Agartala Jan 21: Protesting against the murder of party worker, TIPRA Motha announced 12 hours bandh on January 23 in Kamalpur sub division in Dhalai district.
After the Election Commission announced the date for the Tripura Assembly polls, a 44-year-old TIPRA Motha worker died after being assaulted by “unknown miscreants” in poll-bound Tripura.
However, the police administration and state election commission ruled out the allegations of ‘political murder’ adding, “The murder reportedly was non-political and the man was killed due to financial disputes. So far, 4 people have been detained and the police are looking for two more absconders in connection with the crime”.
However, the leadership of TIPRA Motha, the ruling party in power of TTAADC claimed repeated attacks on Motha workers across the state in separate incidents including the death of Pranajit Namashudra.
Addressing the reporters at Kamalpur Press Club, TIPRA Motha Women’s Federation leader Marry Debbarma said, “We strongly condemn the incident of murder of our party worker Pranajit Namashudra on January 18 last and demand exemplary punishment of the culprits”.
In view of the demands, TIPRA Motha has decided to call for a 12 hours shut down in two assembly constituencies under Kamalpur sub division on January 23 next, she added.
The leaders also take all necessary steps to ensure that the bandh is successful.
