Agartala, April 16: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led a spirited roadshow at Tripura’s capital on Tuesday. The event was marked by the echoing chants of “Priyanka Gandhi kaisa hain, Indira Gandhi jaisa hain” and “Priyanka Gandhi aage badho, hum tumhare saath hain,” signifying the crowd’s enthusiasm and support.
Addressing the gathered masses, Gandhi urged the public to cast their votes for the INDIA bloc’s candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the state’s two constituencies. She emphasized the critical need for their support to safeguard the Constitution and democracy in India.
The Congress leader outlined a vision of governance that promises jobs, fair minimum support prices for crops, and comprehensive welfare benefits for women and all societal segments. The roadshow, which saw a massive turnout in Tripura West, became a platform for Gandhi to declare, “The people of Tripura have decided that this time a government that guarantees education, health, employment, and justice will be formed.”
Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to delivering on five key guarantees, including the creation of 30 lakh jobs, ensuring minimum support price (MSP) to farmers, providing Rs 1 lakh annually to women, allotting land to the landless, and offering free education to children up to the 12th standard.
Despite initial plans for a rally, logistical challenges led to the decision for a roadshow stretching from the airport to Durga Chowmuhani in the city.
The Congress general secretary was joined by prominent figures such as State Congress President and party candidate, Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Opposition leader and CPM Secretary, Jitendra Choudhary, INDIA bloc candidate for Ramnagar by-poll, Ratan Das and few others.
