Kalyanpur April 02: The 33 KV Gamaibari feeder, supplying electricity from Teliamura to Kalyanpur, has remained non-operational for 18 days, leaving Kalyanpur entirely reliant on the Dhalabil feeder from Khowai.
During the intense heat wave, this outage has affected essential services like irrigation and water supply.
Senior Manager of Kalyanpur Electricity Department, Nandan Debnath, stated that the Gamaibari feeder is inactive due to a transformer issue. Efforts to repair the aging 6.3 MVA transformer are ongoing, but delays have persisted.
Uttam Debbarma, Senior Manager at Gamaibari Sub-Station, attributed the delay to the transformer’s degradation and the extensive process of draining, drying, and restoring it.
Meanwhile, concerns are growing over the dependency on the Dhalabil feeder, as any disruption would plunge Kalyanpur into darkness.
Many question why a new transformer wasn’t installed instead of repairing the outdated one, especially with stormy weather ahead, further emphasizing the need for urgent solutions to restore stable power in the area.
