Properties of 20 chit funds attached in Tripura, says Law minister

The Tripura cabinet on Tuesday approved ‘The Tripura Banning of Unregulated Deposit Scheme Rules, 2022’.
Speaking to the media, Tripura Law minister Ratanlal Nath said the cabinet approved the rules to prevent unscrupulous activities of various chit funds in the state.
He said, “the state government has already attached properties of 20 Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs). Among them, 66 properties have been confiscated while the court granted permission for selling of 34 properties.”
According to Nath, 15,206 depositors of eight sub-divisions have so far submitted their claims.
Sharing more details, the Law minister said, the government has received court’s permission for selling properties of Waris at Udaipur, Belonia and Sadar sub-divisions, Ramel and Icore at Sadar sub-division, Kama (Indian) Projects at Santirbazar, Pragatishil Infra Projects and Rose Valley at Kumarghat and Angel Agritech at Udaipur.
Nath said, the state government acquired one property of Waris for Sabroom ICP.
Similarly, one building of Support India Limited attached by SDM in Kamalpur has been given to Punjab National Bank on rent. As of now, the government received rental of Rs. 12,02,300 (Rs. 7600 per month), he told the reporters.
