Raid on NH: Tripura Police seizes 5366 kg ganja from LPG tanker

Teliamura, June 18: In a major achievement towards Neshamukt Tripura campaign, Tripura Police seized 5366 kg ganja from a LPG tanker at 41 miles area under Mungiakami police station in Khowai district on Friday.
The ganja consignment worth Rs. 5.3 crore was seized in a raid on the national highway led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Teliamura- Sonacharan Jamatia.
Based on secret information, the SDPO along with the staff of Mungiakami police station raided the LPG tanker (NL021-6846) on Assam- Agartala national highway at 41 miles area. During search, the policemen found 5366 kg ganja hidden inside the tanker.
According to police, the LPG tanker was loaded in Agartala on Thursday night and it was detained on the way to Ambassa.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Khowai- Bhanupada Chakraborty, who reached the spot soon after receiving the information, said it is the biggest ganja haul in Tripura so far. He appreciated the efforts made by the SDPO Teliamura and other police staff who carried out the raid.
The drived and co-driver of the LPG tanker, residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh respectively, were arrested. During preliminary interrogation, they informed the police that the ganja consignment was loaded from a place in Agartala on Thursday night.
