Railway Police arrests Youth for Human Trafficking

Agartala Jun 16: The Agartala Government Railway Police Station apprehended a youth named Jhutan Datta (28), son of Lt. Jyoti Lal Datta on charges of involvement in international human trafficking.
Agartala GP Police Station Officer in-charge Tapas Das while briefing the media in this regard said, “The accused was in the wanted list of the police in an old case at Agartala GRPS bearing case no. 190/2023 when four illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were detained from Agartala Railway Station”.
“Interrogation of the detained Bangladeshi revealed the name of Jhutan Datta who helped them to cross the borders illegally”, said Das.
The OC mentioned that acting upon information from specific sources, police raided Matai Bazar under Belonia Police Station and detained the accused person.
OC Tapas Das further added that prior to this arrest the youth had been detained by the Guwahati Branch of NIA on similar charges of Human Trafficking.
The accused is set to be presented before the Court for further proceedings, said Police.
