Rotary Annapurna: Nourishing hope at IGM Hospital, Agartala

In the Rotary Year 2022–2023, the Rotary Club of Agartala City initiated Rotary Annapurna, a compassionate project aimed at providing free lunches to poor and destitute patient attendees at Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital, Agartala.

As a leading government multispecialty hospital in Tripura, IGM Hospital serves numerous antenatal and delivery cases from remote and underprivileged areas. 

While inpatients receive government-sponsored meals, their accompanying family members, many from daily-wage backgrounds, often struggle to afford food.

Recognizing this need, Rotary Annapurna began outside the hospital premises, overcoming challenges before securing a permanent space within the IGM Hospital campus. 

With strong support from hospital and government authorities, the initiative now operates seamlessly, offering not just sustenance but also a message of care and community. Since its launch, Rotary Annapurna has become a beacon of hope, ensuring dignity and comfort for those facing difficult times.
