Agartala, Sept 02: The Rotary Club of Agartala has extended support to those affected by the recent flood by organizing relief and health camps.
Although water levels in many rivers have receded, the impact on local communities remains severe, leaving many in need of essential support.
On Sunday, the Rotary Club of Agartala conducted two relief and health camps at Jirtali Higher Secondary School, Belonia and Paschim Pilak Higher Secondary School, Jolaibari in South Tripura.
The camps aimed to address the immediate needs of those displaced by the floods and provide medical assistance to prevent potential health issues in post-flood situation.
The relief efforts reached 296 beneficiaries, who received essential items such as rice, Gamcha, Maggi, biscuits and clothing. Additionally, financial assistance was extended to two families whose homes were destroyed by the floods. The two families, now taking refuge in a shelter home near Jirtali Higher Secondary School, received cash support.
In the health camps, approximately 206 patients were treated, and free medicines were distributed to those in need.
The presence of the NIT Alumni Association at the Paschim Pilak camp added further support, as they contributed 23 additional items to the relief efforts. The Rotary Club of Agartala expressed deep gratitude to the NIT Alumni Association for their collaboration in aiding the flood victims.
Key members from the Rotary Club of Agartala- Secretary Rtn. Dr. Bidhan Goswami, PP Rtn. Dr. Subal Debnath, Rtn. Sarbani Dthbarmath, Rtn. Sujit Chanda, Rtn. Prof. Priyanath Das, Rtn. Asim Chakraborty, and Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh were present at the camps.
On behalf of the NIT Alumni Association, Prof. Swapan Bhowmik, VP, Prof. Priyanath Das, EE, Jolaibari, and other members also actively participated in the relief efforts.
The Rotary Club of Agartala has reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing such health and relief camps to support flood victims across the state.
