Agartala, May 31: The present state government is sincerely working to ensure the benefits of various schemes to the rural people. The development of rural areas is one of the top priorities of the state government, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Addressing a review meeting cum workshop on the progress and present status of various schemes under the Rural Development department at Prajna Bhavan, the Chief Minister asked the officials and employees of various levels to further expedite the on-going works so that the benefits of such welfare schemes reach the last man of the society.
The Chief Minister said, the Act East Policy played a vital role in development of the North Eastern region including Tripura. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to take the North Eastern states towards the path of development through this Policy.
The District Magistrates of different districts and officials of the Rural Development department were present in the workshop.
The Chief Minister said, the Prime Minister always says that a state cannot develop without development of the rural areas. The Prime Minister also emphasized on proper utilization of funds allotted for rural development.
The state government is also following the footsteps of the Prime Minister to achieve the same goal. He said, the officials of the department are working to ensure that the rural people get the benefits of different central schemes.
As a result, the state is holding a good position presently among other states in the country in implementing different schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). It is a matter of pride for the state. He said, 28,838 houses under PMAY-G were sanctioned for Tripura from 2018-19 to 2019-20.
With the sincere efforts of the state government, 1,83,590 houses were sanctioned for the state in the financial year 2020-21. Furthermore, 44,921 houses were granted in the financial year 2021-22.
Apart from that, the central government on Wednesday sanctioned more 1,30,695 houses for Tripura for the current financial year. These are the benefits of double engine government, he said.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said, the RD department is sincerely working for development of rural areas. As a result of which, the state is holding a good position in the country in successful implementation of various central schemes including PMAY and MGNREGA.
Secretary Dr. Debashish Basu also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries present in the event were CEO of TRLM Prasad Rao and Additional Secretary of RD department Arun Kumar Roy.
