Agartala, Nov 20: Rural smartphone buyers and mobile dealers are facing major challenges following the suspension of transactions by DMI Finance Pvt. Ltd. due to a directive from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Tripura Mobile Dealer Association on Wednesday has voiced serious concerns following the suspension of transactions by DMI Finance Pvt. Ltd., which has disrupted smartphone sales in rural areas.
Sellers reported that this suspension has left many rural customers unable to purchase smartphones through affordable instalment plans, severely affecting mobile sales in these areas. The association fears that, if the situation persists, it could lead to major financial losses for dealers and hinder the growth of the smartphone market in rural parts of the state and beyond.
The association has urged the RBI and DMI Finance to urgently review the matter and restore transaction services, emphasizing that the halt is not only affecting dealers but also limiting access to essential digital tools for rural consumers.
DMI Finance has been instrumental in improving digital connectivity in rural India, and its financing options have helped increase smartphone penetration in these regions. The Tripura Mobile Dealer Association is calling for swift action to resolve the issue and restore normalcy to the rural smartphone market.
