Gandacherra, Apr 18: The villagers of Mohanta Para and Prakashjoy Para of Ramnagar ADC Village in Gandacherra demanded a probe into alleged corruption in renovation of a road.

Around 100 Janajati families live in the two villages- Mohanta Para and Prakashjoy Para. After a long wait, the villagers’ demand for construction of a road was fulfilled under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana 5 years ago.

In March last, the Gandacherra division of PWD spent Rs. 97 lakh for renovating the road. According to the local villagers, the contractor implemented poor-quality works and misappropriated the fund.

The contractor along with his partner in the work renovated the 5-km road by utilizing stones less than the required. As a result, the road is getting damaged within a few days of the renovation.

In such a situation, the villagers demanded a probe into the scam. They also pointed out that the work was not implemented as per the measurement book.
