Agartala, Nov 10: Sensational Shanta Saha murder in Agartala is still a mystery.
Several years have passed since the incident took place in 2015, the trial has been conducted in the court, the judgement has also been announced on Thursday but the actual killer(s) is/are still unidentified following weak investigation.
Additional Sessions Court, West Tripura announced the judgment of the murder case on Thursday acquitting all six accused persons- Dipjoy Saha alias Suman, Bitanjoy Saha alias Sagar, Dipak Saha, Simita Chakraborty alias Tumpa, Ranabir Lodh and Krishna Dey.
After triple-murder case in Ganadoot newspaper officer in 2014, Santa Saha’s murder in 2015 was one of the sensational incidents in the city where police miserably failed to find out the actual killer(s).
Santa Saha, an aged woman, was brutally murdered inside her house at Shyamalibazar area, a high-security zone, in broad daylight on August 17, 2015.
Around 11:45 am, some unknown miscreants had brutally murdered the lady by making 5/6 blows on her body with sharp weapon when other members of the family were out of home.
Dipak Saha, husband of the deceased and an employee of Central MT Poll, had left the home for office at 10:30 am while his sons- Dipjoy and Bitanjoy had also gone to their respective working places.
The case was first investigated by New Capital Complex police and then it was handed over to CID. On completion of the investigation, the second IO of the case submitted the charge-sheet before the court on December 31, 2015 against Dipak Saha, Dipjoy Saha, Bitanjoy Saha, Simita Chakraborty, Ranabir Lodh and Krishna Dey under Section 120B/109/302/201 IPC.
During a long trial, the court recorded statements of the witnesses and examined the evidences on record. The Final hearing of the case was conducted November 5 last.
Finally, the Additional Sessions Judge, West Tripura announced the verdict on Thursday and acquitted the six accused persons form all charges. According to the court order, the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the charges labelled against each of the accused persons.
On behalf of Dipak Saha, Dipjoy Saha and Bitanjoy Saha, senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas moved the case. He was assisted by Advocate M. K. Biswas.
For Simita Chakraborty and Krishna Dey, senior advocate S. Kar Bhowmik moved the case. He was assisted by Advocate A. Bhattacharjee and for Ranabir Lodh, the case was moved by advocate R. Mukherjee.
The Saha family welcomed the court’s verdict and said it is truth that always triumphs. They, however, said the victim didn’t get justice.
They also demanded that strict legal action should be taken by the government against IOs who deliberately implicate and frame innocents and facilitate actual accused persons to go scot free.
