Agartala, June 27: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party said a shadow alliance of Congress and CPI-M helped Sudip Roy Barman win in 6- Agartala seat.
Addressing a press conference after announcement of by-poll results, BJP’s state chief spokesman Subrata Chakraborty congratulated the voters for electing three BJP candidates and said, the Congress secured victory in the 6- Agartala constituency by the votes of CPI-M.
“There was a time when Congress had shifted its votes to CPI-M following which there was misrule in the state for 25 years. Similarly, the CPI-M has now shifted its votes to Congress and it is evident in the poll results,” Chakraborty told the reporters.
He said, the CPI-M is extending under-table support to Congress for coming to power but the people of Tripura would give a befitting reply in 2023 polls.
Referring to the post-poll violence, Chakraborty said, the Chief Minister had on June 14 last sent a message to the party karyakartas that violence would not be tolerated. The party also passed the same message to the party supporters on Saturday but no such initiative has so far been taken by the opposition camp, Chakraborty told the media.
He alleged that BJP corporator Shilpi Sen and her daughter were attacked by the Congress-backed miscreants and the Congress leaders were instigating post-poll violence. He said a complaint was lodged in connection with the attack incident.
Replying to a query, Chakraborty said, the by-election results indicated that BJP would retain power with a huge mandate in 2023 polls.
He said, the Chief Minister is making all-out efforts to complete all the pending works at the earliest. BJP would go to the next assembly polls based on a report card and secure a win, he added.
BJP state general secretary Tinku Roy said, Jubarajnagar constituency became free of leftists after 29 years. BJP candidate Malina Debnath secured the victory by the margin of over 4000 votes, he said, adding, “In Agartala, the poll results made it clear that Congress and CPI-M are two sides of the same coin.”
