Storm hits Kailashahar

Kailashahar, Apr 27: A good number of families were affected due to heavy storm in parts of Kailashahar in Unakoti district in the intervening nights of Friday and Saturday.
Several houses and business establishments suffered damages at various areas including Durgapur, Uttar Kacherghat and Post Office Road. Besides, electric poles were uprooted in the storm at various locations.
Prasenjit Das, a clay artisan of Paschim Govindapur area, said his studio was damaged as two big-size trees collapsed in the storm. Several idols inside the studio were found broken.
Another clay artisan- Subrata Rudrapaul of Srirampur said, he also suffered huge losses due to the storm.
Chairperson of Kailashahar municipal council Chapala Debroy and vice-chairperson Nitish Dey visited the affected studio.
On the other hand, a big tree collapsed on a shop near Post Office road causing damage of worth Rs. 70,000.
