Khowai, Jan 31: The behaviour of a section of students at a school in Khowai is growing concerns among teachers and parents.

The situation has reached a point where some students have been found arriving at exams under the influence of alcohol.

When the school authorities noticed erratic behaviour among four students, they were prevented from entering the exam hall. The students were later sent home with their parents. The school operates under the Vidyajyoti Project.

Some other incidents reflecting the concerns over the school's declining standard were noticed earlier too. This clearly indicated the school administration’s inefficiency.

On Friday, several 9th and 10th-grade students arrived at the school under the influence of alcohol. The teachers noticed their odd behaviour, slurred speech, and inappropriate interactions. The strong smell of alcohol prompted further suspicion. As a result, the students were barred from entering the exam hall, and their parents were called to take them home.

In an attempt to investigate the matter, local journalists reached out to the school authorities. The principal was unavailable for comment, and a contracted teacher denied the allegations. However, local parents spoke to the media, confirming the incident.
