A group of students from Charakbai Higher Secondary School in South Tripura district staged road blockade on Tuesday to register their protest against shortage of teachers.
According to the agitating students, the school is struggling with several shortcomings including shortage of subject teachers. But the school authority and School Management Committee didn’t take any step to solve the issues so far.
As the students failed to get any positive response from the authorities, they joined hands in agitation and staged blockade on Baikhora- Muhurupur road.
The agitators demanded immediate posting of subject teachers for English and Political Science as well as appointment of Head Master. According to a section of students, the protest would go on if the demands are not fulfilled.
“Most of the students are from poor economic background and we can’t afford private tutors. We are dependent on school teachers. We demand immediate posting of subject teachers, an agitating student told the reporters.
On the other side, in-charge headmaster of the school admitted shortage of teachers in the school. He said the issue was already communicated to the competent authority. Meanwhile, 341 students are there in the school.
However, the students cleared the road after receiving assurance from Inspector of School, Jolaibari- Bikas Debnath. He assured the students that immediate steps would be taken to solve the issue.
