Agartala, Dec 2: The students of minority community in Agartala staged a sit-in protest (dharna) outside the Board Director’s office on Monday, demanding the disbursement of one-time financial aid promised for higher education. 

Despite assurances, the Minority Welfare Department has allegedly failed to release the funds, leaving students frustrated, the representatives of minority group alleged.

Later, police rushed to the spot to maintain order, while representatives of the minority group met with the Secretary of Minority Welfare. 

They warned that if their demands are not addressed, they will take the matter to the High Court next week.
