Agartala, Nov 05: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday paid a surprise visit to PWD office at Netaji Chowmuhani in Agartala.
The Chief Minister said, he is not happy over the attendance of the staff.
"I am not happy. Many of the staff are absent. I wanted to know their problems but they couldn't say it properly," the Chief Minister told reporters.
Dr. Saha, who also holds the portfolio of PWD, said monitoring is important since they are service provider. If the staff are not present during duty hours specially when the "Proti Ghore Susasan" is going on, the service wouldn't be delivered to the people, he said.
Replying to a question, the Chief Minister also said that an inquiry would be carried out-- while some of the staff are in the field, some others have genuine issues.
Dr. Saha said, he wants to visit all the departments but he can't manage time. He expressed hope that the surprise visit would alert the employees of other departments also.
The present state government wants to ensure a healthy work culture. In this view, the government is providing various benefits to the employees, he said.
During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with some of the employees and asked them about the activities.
