Agartala, July 02: The state transport and tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday attended the felicitation programme of girl child under the MUSKAN project of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, organized here at Agartala Ranirbazar Gitanjali auditorium.

Addressing the programme, the minister said that the state government is working relentlessly to ensure more empowerment of the women through implementation of various projects and schemes. In the event, at least 24 girl children were felicitated with bags containing educational materials.

The minister said, “Women are playing a key role in nation building despite the fact that they are still the victims of domestic violence. Incidents like killing girl child, child marriage are still occurring in our society.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program to protect women from these social problems. Following the thoughts of the Prime Minister, the state government is working to eliminate these social ills and ensure empowerment of women in the state as well,” he said.

Chairperson of Ranirbazar municipality Arpan Shukla Das, ADM of Jirania subdivision Animesh Dhar, Ranirbazar ICDS Project CDPO Shrabani Roy and others were present in the programme.
