Suspected bird flu outbreak in govt farm, 50 percent chiks died

Agartala, Mar 28.A suspected outbreak of bird flu has resulted in the death of around 50 percent of chickens of the Animal Resource Development Department run poultry farm located at Gandhigram. Tripura Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das on Friday admitted the fact that a disease like bird blu has spread in the farm. “There is an outbreak of an unidentified disease in the Gandhigram farm. The disease is yet to be ascertained through proper scientific investigation. We have already taken the required steps to contain the spread of the disease,” said Das.
The issue was raised by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman at Tripura State Assembly on Friday.
Addressing the state assembly, MLA Sudip Roy Barman expressed apprehension over the possibility of a bird flu outbreak and stated that 50 percent of the poultry chicks died due to the disease. He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to contain the situation.
