
Agartala Jan 24: Swami Mritunjayananda Maharaj, head of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram, located at Madhuban, Ranirkhamar breathed his last at IGM hospital on Wednesday early morning.
The 90-year-old monk was suffering from age- related ailments for quite some time. Tuesday evening as his health deteriorated, he was immediately admitted in capital city’s IGM hospital. However, failing all the efforts of the doctors, Swami Mritunjayananda Maharaj passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Later, his body was transported to Ranirkhamar Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram where a large number of devotees and authorities of other Ashrams, monks, in the state paid their last respects to the departed Maharaj.
Swami Mritunjayananda Maharaj at first resided in Amtali Ramakrishna Ashram as a disciple of Swami Paramananda Maharaj. After a few years, he moved to Ranirkhamar where he accepted Sanyas Dharma and kept himself engaged in the service of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Dev.
The ashram authorities mentioned that his body will be cremated inside the Ashram premises.
