Agartala Dec 05: “State Level Master Resource Persons Training Program for School Teachers on Nature Activity to Understand the Dynamics of Nature” was held at Saheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas, Agartala here on Monday.
Deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated the program jointly organized by Tripura State Council for Science and Technology and Vigyan Prasar, DST Govt. of India in collaboration with School Education Department.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma said, “Everything we have is derived from nature. The training program will boost the knowledge of the teachers and update them accordingly”.
Talking about the tribal teachers who participated in the program from various nooks and corners of the state, Dy CM Jishnu Dev Varma said, “Those hailing from tribal areas are more closely connected with nature. They have a special emotional attachment with the nature they live in”.
He said, “Science and Technology applications are important in areas of agriculture, health and nutrition security as well as for protection and conservation of the rich traditions of the tribal communities”.
“It is the need of the hour to emphasize on training and capacity development so that tribal people are encouraged to enhance the scientific outlook and to develop entrepreneurship with healthy lives and livelihoods”, he added.
Dev Varma further said Nature is also the best teacher. “Nature gives all its resources which are important to human beings. It is the best and great teacher for each and every one who wishes to learn from Nature. He explained the process of nature exploration while explaining the dynamics of nature law”, he said.
The program was aimed to empower teachers with knowledge, tools and pool of information so that they can undertake their operations in a more systematic and scientific manner.
A total of 64 teachers from different parts of the state participated in the 3-day long training program.
Apart from the Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, B Chakraborty, Director DSTI, former scientist and consultant Dr B K Tyagi, Principal secretary Science and Technology Department Govt of Tripura, K S Shetty and other dignitaries also remained present at the program.
