Agartala March 02: The much-anticipated move that will usher a new era in the political landscape of Tripura, that too ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections, TIPRASA Accord is set to be signed today.
On Friday, key figures of the state including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Tripura chief secretary JK Sinha, leaders from opposition, TIPRA Motha president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl among others rushed to Delhi.
However, none of them cleared the reason for heading to Delhi adding, “No Agenda”.
The TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Deb Barman who rushed to Delhi all of a sudden, leaving his fast-unto-death agitation shared the news of tripartite accord with his followers on Saturday morning.
He said, “I said I wouldn’t come back empty-handed. A historic accord is going to be signed today. So, celebrate, but not so much that we have won. Our real win will be in the coming days, when we shall fulfil our land, constitutional, political, language, historical, economic rights. I was successful because of your love and support.”
In presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the tripartite agreement between the Govt. of India, Govt. of Tripura and TIPRA Motha will be signed in National Capital’s North Block on Saturday.
Now, it remains to be seen what the TIPRASA Accord holds for the indigenous people in Tripura and what new dimensions it brings in the state politics.
