Agartala/Udaipur, Apr 04.
Founder of Tipra Motha Party Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Thursday made a prediction that the 2028 assembly elections in Tripura shall mark the beginning of “Tiprasa” rule. Debbarman’s assertion came during a public meeting at Matabari, Udaipur where he addressed a public gathering. He, however, also made it clear that for that to happen, the prerequisite condition of “Thansa (The Kokborok expression for the word unity” has to be satisfied.
His statement made it clear that his party has been eyeing to win as many seats as possible in the next assembly elections and efforts would be made to cross the majority mark. Tipra Motha Party with 14 MLAs is the second largest political party and entered the BJP-led coalition through a post-poll understanding.
He also asserted that the 2026 ADC elections are going to lay the foundation for Tipra Motha’s ultimate triumph in 2028.
“The 2026 elections we shall surely win. But, 2028 is the most significant year. It took 200 years to gain independence from the British and 35 years to make sure CPIM is routed out. I am asking for just three more years. If we succeed in keeping our party united, Tiprasa rule will be established in 2028. The future of our children will be in secure hands,” Debbarman told the crowd.
Elaborating his political agendas, he said, “My party is not my biggest concern. My biggest concern is the people of my community. I want to make sure that English education becomes accessible for the children of my people. Our age of getting something is over. I have enough land. I don’t need land rights. The current generation should fight to secure the rights of their future generation.”
Hitting out at Md Yunus the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government for his recent remarks on the North East, Debbarman asserted that people of Tiprasa Community possess the strength to defend their land.
“If Bangladesh poses a threat, the people of Tripura, we will make sure that our share of Greater Tipraland is acquired from Bangladesh. Several invasive attacks against Tripura failed because of the bravehearts of this soil. The Jamatias are known for their valour. We have installed statues of Rai Kasam and Rai Kasak at TTAADC headquarters so that their stories could be retold to this generation. They were not the heroes of the Reang community, they were the heroes of the whole Tiprasa race,” said Debbarman.
Debbarman also expressed his sharp disappointment over the negative campaign being run against him.
