Agartala, June 21: Noted Bollywood actor and Trinamool Congress MP- Shatrughan Sinha, who campaigned in support of the party for by-polls in Agartala on Tuesday, said the TMC made a good beginning in the state. 

“Trinamool Congress has made a good beginning here and we should carry on this fight and defeat the divisive forces that are destroying India,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at Agartala Press Club, Sinha said, if the opposition votes are divided, it would benefit the ruling BJP. He appealed to the voters to support TMC in the ensuing polls.

“The BJP government is dividing the country into social and religious lines. I appeal to the voters to support TMC and not to allow any division of votes, as it will help the BJP in further dividing our society. We do not want Tripura to be divided. My appeal is for the voters to support the Trinamool Congress as it is not just a party of the present, but also the future,” he said.
The TMC MP said, the upcoming by-elections in Tripura can be taken as the trailer for next year's state elections. TMC state president Subal Bhowmik and MP Susmita Dev among others were present in the press conference.
Meanwhile, the TMC held a colourful road show in presence of Shatrughan Sinha and actress Mimi Chakraborty in the city on the last of the vocal campaign.
