Kailasahar, July 14: The entire area of Durgapur in Kailasahar went powerless amid the scorching heat of the sun after the electricity transformer in the area caught fire on Thursday evening.

The concerned power supply agency – Sai Computer Limited accompanied by the fire tender rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control before the transformer got gutted. 

The incident took place after the locals panicked seeing the transformer catching fire in Durgapur area on Thursday evening and later reported the incident to the office of the electricity service provider "Sai Computer Limited". They also alarmed the fire tender.

The locals demanded for the installation of a new power transformer into the area at the earliest to restore power supply in their area.
