Agartala March 17: Speaking at a session on the railway budget in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee underscored the paramount importance of railway safety, announcing an allocation of Rs 1.16 lakh crore in the central budget to ensure it.
He emphasized that development must stem from noble intentions, lamenting the stagnation in the railway sector that once hindered India's progress.
This substantial budget allocation reflects a renewed commitment to safeguarding lives and advancing infrastructure, he said.
Bhattacharjee highlighted the transformative strides made in the northeastern region under the Modi government.
He said. “Since its inception in 2014, the government has prioritized the region's development, initiating the broad-gauge railway line in Agartala, Tripura, by 2016”.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for introducing the Vande Bharat train, connecting Agartala to Guwahati, a milestone in regional connectivity.
The MP also noted a remarkable decline in railway accidents, from 234 incidents in 2005-06 to just 30 in 2024-25, attributing this achievement to the government's unwavering dedication to progress with integrity.
This narrative of transformation serves as a beacon of hope, showcasing the power of purposeful governance in shaping a safer and more connected India, claimed Bhattacharjee.
