Haridwar police rescued a minor boy of Tripura, who fled away from an NGO-run school in Haridwar, and helped him virtually reunite with the family.
Shantanu Jamatia (8) of Teliamura sub-division had fled the Haridwar School at night on Wednesday (July 27) and got lost.
As reported by TOI, two police personnel found the boy crying near a canal in Haridwar on the next morning. When the police personnel inquired about him, he was unable to reply since he can only speak Kokborok.
He was then taken to a local police station and the policemen somehow came to know about his school’s name. When they searched google, the school was showing at Telimura on google map. They then contacted local police and arranged a video call reuniting the boy and his parents.
His father’s name is Shiv Sadhan Jamatia and he is a daily-wage labourer.
Tripura’s former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the efforts made by Uttarakhand police and also talked to Shantanu’s father. Deb assured him of extending all-possible assistance.
