Agartala, June 23: Soon after the end of the by-elections to four assembly constituencies of the state of Tripura on Thursday evening, the Pradesh congress alleged of large scale poll rigging and demanded re-poll in three polling booths.
Addressing a press conference the PCC president Birjit Sinha said that the congress would write to the Returning Officers for the re-poll in three booths. He alleged, “There were several irregularities in booth number – 12, 13 and 55. Apart from this if any such irregularities are found from other booths, we shall write to the Returning officers again.”
The congress leader thanked the voters on Thursday and expressed hope that the congress candidates will sweep the elections with a high margin of votes. He said, “Despite all odds of the incident of attacks and threatening, the voters had turned out in the polling booths and managed to cast their vote while a large section of voters were restricted from casting their vote.”
“I believe that voters who turned out in the polling booths today despite all odd and terror tactics had casted their vote against the BJP and votes for our congress party. I thank the security personnel for their coverage, but unfortunately they failed to push back the outsiders who gathered in large number infront of the polling booths,” Sinha told reporters.
