Agartala, June 20: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and MP Locket Chatterjee, who arrived in Agartala on Sunday, along with former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb joined BJP’s by-poll campaigns in support of two party candidates- Dr. Manik Saha (Bordowali) and Dr. Ashok Sinha (Agartala) in the city on Sunday.
They along with hundreds of party karyakartas participated in a colourful Padyatra in support of Bordowali candidate- Dr. Saha in the city. Before joining the rally, Dr. Saha accompanied by the Assam Chief Minister and party leaders offered puja at Durgabari. The Padayatra received huge response from the city dwellers.
Speaking to a local news channel, the Assam Chief Minister said, peace and development have been restored in the state over the past four years. He said the BJP government worked more than the promises made in the vision document.
He also said, all four BJP candidates who are contesting the by-polls would secure victory while Dr. Manik Saha would win the election with a huge margin.
Next, the Assam Chief Minister took part in an election rally held at Hindi Higher Secondary School in support of the party's Agartala candidate- Dr. Ashok Sinha.
Taking to social media, he wrote, “Delighted to see the enthusiasm of our karyakartas and confident that our party is headed for a certain victory.”
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury among other leaders were present in the poll campaign.
The Assam Chief Minister was offered a warm reception by Tripura BJP karyakartas at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala. Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury and others including MLA Krishnadhan Das and BJYM state president Nabadal Banik were present.
“Humbled to receive such a rousing welcome from BJP Tripura karyakartas at Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport, Agartala. Their energy and enthusiasm always inspire me,” the Assam Chief Minister wrote in a social media post.
Soon after arriving in the city, the Assam Chief Minister held courtesy meetings with Dr. Saha and Deb and discussed various matters.
Meanwhile, Dr. Saha along with party workers campaigned door-to-door in Bordowali constituency and BJP candidate for 6- Agartala seat Dr. Ashok Sinha also took part in a bike rally braving rains on Sunday morning. Assam minister Dr. Ashok Singhal joined the bike rally in support of Dr. Sinha.
