Tripura By-polls: TMC bites dust
Agartala, Jun 27, 2022, TRIPURATIMES Desk

Agartala Jun 27: In the by-polls to four Assembly constituencies, TMC fielded mega stars, veteran politicians and even Party’s general secretary to campaign for TMC candidates contesting in Agartala, Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar Assembly constituencies. But results in the by-polls delivered a big jolt and the State leadership including the Bengal-based Observer is literally red-faced.
TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a road show in Agartala for its candidates from 6-Agartala nad 8-Bordowali seats. In both the constituency, several star campaigners of the Party held street corners and numerous press conferences – all the efforts got a rude jolt and neither of the two TMC candidates could secure at least 1000 votes in their favour. At 6-Agartala, the TMC candidate got 842 votes while in 8-Bordowali, it managed to get 986 votes.
Abhishek Banerjee held a high voltage campaign at Surma but the party’s candidate got only 1341 votes. The dismal performance of TMC continued in Jubarajnagar – here, the TMC candidate bagged 1080 votes.
