Tripura CM chairs high-level meet on flood situation

Agartala, June 18: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall flood situation of the state.
He also reviewed the latest status of the repairing of Assam- Agartala national highway and rail tracks, alternative road communication from Agartala to Kolkata via Bangladesh and supply of essential commodities.
According to a government press release, the Chief Minister wrote letters to the Ministers of the concerned ministries about the emerging situation in the state and he is also maintaining contact with them over telephone for speedy restoration of the road communication.
An official of the Transport department (North Tripura) has been sent to the landslide-hit zone in Meghalaya to take stock of the latest situation.
The meeting, according to the press release, focused on rescue of flood-affected people and distribution of reliefs among them. The Chief Minister passed an instruction to the administration for making all necessary arrangements including medicines in the relief camps.
He also held discussions for assessing the damages caused by the flood and extending assistance to the affected people.
