Agartala July 04: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha formally resigned from his post of Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Dr Saha submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu as a member of the Rajya Sabha. In his Facebook post Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha wrote, "Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, All India President of Bharatiya Janata Party Shri J. P. Nadda ji and All India General Secretary Shri B. L. Santosh ji, I will always be grateful to my party colleagues including and the MLAs of Tripura for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Chief Minister of Tripura."

Notably, the Chief Minister could not be sworn in as a member of Tripura Legislative Assembly because of his membership of the Upper House.

According to sources, the Chief Minister will return to Agartala and land at MBB Airport , Agartala by Monday evening. Later, he will take the oath as a member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
