Agartala, Nov 10: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday took a thorough review of the latest status of Bru settlement process that is underway in the state following a quadripartite agreement signed between the Centre, Government of Tripura, Government of Mizoram and Bru leaders.
The Chief Minister said, the state government wants to complete the process as soon as possible. If any problem arises in the process, initiatives would be taken to solve it through discussions.
Principal Secretary of Revenue department- Puneet Agarwal said, the central government extended the deadline for the Bru settlement process till February 28, 2023. He said, the process is underway to shift Bru 6302 families from seven Relief camps in North Tripura district to twelve new locations identified by the Tripura government.
Among them, 4171 families have already been resettled in 10 locations, he said, adding that the process for the remaining 2131 families is going on in full swing.
As of now, 2326 houses have been constructed for the Bru families. They are also being provided free LPG connections under Ujjwala Yojana. Besides, various facilities including electricity, road, drinking water, schools, Anganwadi centres, sub-health centres and ration shops would be set up in the resettlement zones, he said.
The twelve identified locations are- Bongaphapara (L.T. Valley) and Haduklaupara (Ambassa) in Dhalai district, Kaskau (in-situ) of Ambassa and Wainbukcherra- Ranipara of Panisagar in North Tripura, West Kalajhari (Amarpur) in Gomati, Bhandarima- Pushporampara of Kanchanpur, Hamsapara (in-situ) and Khakchang (in-situ) of Panisagar in North Tripura, Ultacherra of Gandacherra in Dhalai district, Gachirampara of Kanchanpur in North Tripura, Shilacherra of Karbook in Gomati and Kala Lawgang of Santirbazar in South Tripura.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia, Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Santana Chakma, Minister for Fisheries Prem Kumar Reang, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, MLA Pramod Reang, Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, PCCF K.S. Sethi and other officials were present in the review meeting.
