Tripura CM reviews flood situation, alternative road communication

Agartala, June 20: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has reviewed the overall flood situation of the state as well as the status of alternative road communication between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka.
He also reviewed the supply of essential commodities and latest progress of restoration works of Assam- Agartala national highway and rail tracks that suffered damages in Meghalaya and Assam following heavy rainfall recently.
Meanwhile, landslides caused by torrential rainfall in Khasi Hills of Meghalaya disrupted road communication with the Tripura. The Chief Minister already sent letters to the concerned Union Ministers apprising them of the situation. He is keeping in touch with them over telephone so that the road communication can be restored at the earliest.
A senior official of the Transport department (North Tripura district) was sent to the affected areas to take stock of the situation and progress of restoration works.
In the review meeting, special emphasis was laid on the relief and rescue of the flood victims in different parts of the state including Agartala. The Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to take all necessary measures including supply of medicine in the relief camps. The meeting also focused on providing assistance to the victims.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister J.K Sinha, Principal Secretary of the Revenue department Puneet Agarwal, Principal Secretary of the Transport Department L.H Darlong, Secretary in-charge of the Finance department Apurba Roy, Food secretary Sharadindu Chowdhury, Secretary to the Chief Minister's Office Samit Roy Chowdhury and State Project Officer of the Revenue Department Saratchana Das attended in the meeting and briefed the Chief Minister on the overall situation.
