Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday felicitated Aritra Roy (28), who recently scripted a history by successfully conquering Mount Everest.
The mountaineer hails from Badharghat in Agartala.
The Chief Minister in a social media post hailed Roy’s achievement and mentioned, “After climbing through some of the world’s most treacherous terrains, he stood atop the 29,035-foot summit on May 19, 2025. Today felicitated the young mountaineer at my official residence & conveyed my good wishes for his future endeavours.”
On the other hand, the Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury also felicitated the mountaineer and provided a cheque of Rs. 50,000. He also assured further support to the youth for his adventurous journey in the future.
“We are proud of the historic feat achieved by Aritra Roy,” Chowdhury commented.
Battling fierce storms, extreme winds, and harsh weather conditions of the Himalayas, Aritra's relentless determination and courage carried him to the peak on the momentous day- May 19.
