Tripura emerges as front runner state in progress index

Agartala, March 29: Tripura has emerged as the front runner state in the progress index. Tripura was earlier identified as a performer state in indicators of progress towards sustainable development goals, said Secretary of the Planning (Statistics) Department Apurba Roy
Addressing a press conference here at the secretariat on Wednesday the secretary said that the GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) plays an important role in measuring the economic progress of the state.
“During 2021-22 as per advance estimate GSDP of the state was Rs. 64778.08 crore. On the other hand, according to the advance estimate in 2021-22, the average per capita income of the state was Rs. 1,40,803, while the national average was Rs. 1,50,07,” he told reporters.
Roy presented the comparative statistics of GSDP and average per capita income of the state from 2018-19 to 2021-22. He said that the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors play an important role in increasing the state's GSDP. According to the advance estimate in 2021-22, primary sector has 4492 percent, secondary sector 1118 percent and tertiary sector 4310 percent share in GSDP.
Roy highlighted the status of Tripura through statistics on the progress indicators of various stages in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals published by the Government of India's Niti Aayog. He said that Tripura's composite score of 2020-21 in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals published by NITI Aayog is 65 which was 55 in 2018.
The Secretary also informed that the Government of India's Support for Statistical Straining (SSS) project is being implemented in the state to collect and provide quality, timely data. Under this project MoU has been signed with Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for creating dynamic web portal in the state as well as survey work for data collection, he added.
Director of the Planning (Statistics) Department Suresh Chandra Das, Additional Director Arup Kumar Chand and others were present in the press conference.
