Tripura’s former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday visited the traditional Kharchi festival at Chaturdash Devata temple in Khayerpur of West Tripura district.

Deb offered prayers at Chaturdash Devata temple for well-being of the people and took part in felicitation of meritorious students.

Many of the students, who secured good results in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education, achievers in various fields and some of the specially abled youths were felicitated in the Kharchi Festival.

Deb was welcomed by Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly and chairman of Kharchi Mela committee Ratan Chakraborty.

There was a huge gathering in the Kharchi Festival on Tuesday. As soon as Deb arrived in the puja ground, he caught the public attention-- he was greeted by many of the common people while some of them were seen clicking selfies.

Earlier the former Chief Minister visited residence of MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury at Kalyanpur. When he reached Kalyanpur, the local BJP Karyakartas gave him a warm reception.
