Agartala, Sept 17: As promised in the Vision Document, Tripura government on Saturday announced a hike in the social allowances from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made this major announcement after launching ‘Prati Ghore Sushasan’ campaign at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The announcement brought smiles to the beneficiaries ahead of Durga Puja.
According to Dr. Saha, the hike would come into effect from the current month. He said, the state government is providing 25 social allowances at present.
Meanwhile, the amount of social allowance was Rs. 700 during Left rule. It was increased to Rs. 1000 shortly after the BJP-IPFT government was formed in 2018. Now, the government announced the hike to Rs. 2000.
As part of the programme, the Chief Minister launched the campaign song (Bengali and Kokborok), dashboard of ‘Prati Ghore Sushasan’ campaign and a booklet in Bengali, Kokobrok and English languages.
In the programme, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated 24x7 services of North Maharanipur Primary Health Centre.
Dr. Saha said, the government is committed to ensure the benefits of various schemes to the people for ensuring socio-economic development. He said, various flagship schemes of state and central governments are being implemented in the state. The campaign has been launched to complete the remaining works by November next.
The campaign launched on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday is aimed at generating awareness among people about central and state government’s welfare schemes and it would continue till November 30.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, Mayor Dipak Majumder, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of Ica department Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and many other officials were present in the programme.
