Agartala Dec 21: The 48th Foundation Day celebration of Tripura Gramin Bank was inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ratan Lal Nath in presence of Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and other officials of the Bank Regulatory Authority and others at Sukanta Academy on Thursday.
A mega credit delivery camp was organized on the occasion where people were provided loans under various schemes.
Addressing the program, minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “With the induction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government in the Centre as well as in the state, banks that were earlier entitled as places for only rich have now turned into democratic organizations where people belonging to weaker sections and women are benefitted largely”.
“Tripura Gramin Bank is playing a pioneering role in implementing the government’s programs. Lakhs of women involved with SHG groups have accounts in banks and are also getting loans through various schemes of the government”, he said.
Praising the role of Tripura Gramin Bank Nath further said, “Tripura Gramin Bank had only 5 banks across the state when it started its journey and now it has 150 branches that are helping to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Earlier, there were only 5 ATMs and now the number of ATMs of the Bank has increased to 33 along with 3 Mobile ATMs also in service for the people”.
Highlighting the economic progress under the present government the Agriculture minister said, “In the financial year 2017-18, the collective bank deposits in the state amounted to Rs 24 thousand 580 crores. Presently, this figure has surged to a commendable Rs 37 thousand 432 crores across all banks in the state”.
He also pointed out that Tripura has an impressive position in the entire northeastern region in terms of Credit- Deposit (CD) ratio.
Adding that the Tripura Gramin Bank has always extended a helping hand to the government in its developmental works, Ratan Lal Nath urged the Bank authorities to expedite work in lending assistance to the people and play a more positive role in terms of providing loans in the future.
Putting a light on the years of service, Officials of the Bank said, “Tripura Gramin Bank is the largest banking service in the state. Established in the year 1976 on December 21, the bank is committed to provide banking services to the rural people.”
“In coordination with various departments of the state government, the Bank is providing services to the people including social allowances, Rega wages and many more”, he added.
The officials added, “Today loans were given under TRLM, NULM, Swabalamban, Mudra Loan and PMSGP. Gramin Bank is working to implement various programs including lending, lending to young people through KCC projects, including the Department of Animal Husbandry”.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder also praised the role of Tripura Gramin Bank towards the economic development of the state.
