Agartala May 09: In a significant judgement, the Tripura High Court has ruled that Anganwadi workers and helpers must be paid gratuity after retirement. The decision was announced after a hearing at the High Court by Justice S Purkayastha on Thursday.
This landmark judgement brings Anganwadi workers and helpers under the purview of gratuity regulations ensuring that they receive financial benefits upon retirement. The court’s decision aims to provide greater financial security to these essential workers who have dedicated their careers to serving the community.
Anganwadi Helpers play a crucial role in early childhood education, nutrition, and healthcare services across Tripura. By extending gratuity benefits to them, the court recognizes their valuable contributions and seeks to improve their post-retirement prospects.
Briefing the High Court’s order, Advocate Purushottam Roy Barman said, “Tripura High Court Justice S Purkayastha has delivered a very important judgement clearing the gratuities of the Anganwadi workers and helpers under ICDS Scheme. The writ petition was filed last year and the Supreme Court has already cleared the statement in favour of the employees’ rights”.
The judgment is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Anganwadi workers and helpers ensuring that their years of service are duly rewarded.
As they continue their selfless work, this ruling serves as a testament to the court’s commitment to social justice and equitable treatment for all.
