Tripura joins Bakrid celebration

Agartala, July 10: Thousands of Muslim people joined the celebration of Bakrid across Tripura on Sunday.
A huge gathering was seen at Gedu Mia mosque in the capital city in the morning. They performed Namaj followed by exchange of greeting among each others.
According to the Muslim religious leaders, the Bakrid reminds the world of the value of sacrifice and obedience. The aim holy sacrifice is to share happiness among the people, said Moulana Burhan Uddin.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha greeted the people on the occasion of Bakrid.
“Wishing everyone a peaceful and prosperous life on Bakrid,” Dr. Saha wrote in a Facebook post.
Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also extended his greeting on the occasion of Bakrid.
Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Eid-ul-Adha. I pray to the almighty for everyone's well-being and prosperity,” Deb wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the Bakrid celebration took place amid restrictions put by the Tripura government on illegal slaughtering/ sacrifice of animals and illegal transport of animals.
