Agartala, July 16: Amid apprehensions of possible fourth wave of Covid, Tripura registered 260 new positive cases in the past 24 hours.

With the new cases, the number of active cases now crossed 1000-mark, an official report said.

Out of 2380 samples tested, Covid infection was found in samples of 260 persons in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. The positivity rate is 10.92 percent.

Meanwhile, West Tripura district is contributing the maximum number of cases and gradually becoming a Covid hotspot.

An official said, the Covid positivity cases are going up as the number of sample testing is increasing. The Health department is reportedly contemplating a plan to start mass testing with an aim to break the transmission chain of Coronavirus.
