Tripura on Heavy Cyclonic Alert; NDRF teams arrives on Monday

Agartala Oct 24: Amid heavy cyclonic storm alert in the state of Tripura, around 119 numbers of NDRF personnel reached the state on Monday morning.
The NDRF team arrived in the state in a special aircraft to deal with the cyclone and its aftermath that landed at the MBB Airport Agartala on Monday morning.
State government and its administration are on high alert and are organizing meetings on regular basis.
According to reports from IMD Agartala office moderate rainfall is continuing over some parts of West, Khowai, Dhalai, Sepahijala districts and light rain is continuing over other parts of the state and will continue.

The cyclonic storm “SITRANG” pronounced as “Si-Trang” over northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal moved north-north east wards with a speed of 31 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centered at 1130 hours IST of today, the 24th October over the same region near latitude 19.3N and longitude 89.5E, about 300 km south southeast of Sagar Island and 390 km south-southwest of Barisal (Bangladesh).
It is very likely to continue to move north-north east wards and intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 06 hours. Continuing to move north-north east wards thereafter, it is very likely to cross Bangladesh coast between Tinkona Island and Sandwip close to Barisal around 25th October early hours.
