Tripura Panchayat polls on Aug 8, counting on Aug 12

Agartala, July 10: The Tripura State Election Commission announced the schedule for Panchayat elections on Wednesday.
The Panchayat polls will take place on August 8 and the counting of votes will be held on August 12.
According to the State Election Commission, the last date for submission of nomination is July 18 and scrutiny of the nominations will be held on July 19.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 22. The date before which the process of Election shall be completed is August 17.
The model code of conduct has come into force with announcement of the Panchayat polls.
Announcing the polls, the State Election Commissioner said, the notification will be issued on Thursday.
He said, under 606 Gram Panchayats there are 3,517 constituencies and 6,370 seats. The number of Panchayat Samities is 35 where the number of constituencies and seats is 423. There are 8 Zilla Parishad with 116 constituencies and 116 seats.
The SEC said, as per the final electoral rolls, there are 12,94,153 electors, 6,58,445 males and 6,35,697 females and 11 others.
He said, the Panchayat polls will be conducted in 2,650 polling stations. In case of voters identification, the ECI guidelines will be followed.
Most importantly, ballot papers will be used for voting. The ballots will be available in three colors-- White for Gram Panchayats, Pink for Panchayat Samities and and Green for Zilla Parishads.
