Agartala Jan 20: To encourage people participation as well as to let the younger generations have a personal understanding of how the police station’s function, Tripura police invited students from various state government schools at different police stations under West district on Monday.
In a unique initiative, students were appointed as police officials for a day, including Superintendent of Police (SP), Officers’ in-charge and others.
With students allowed to step into the shoes of important police officials, they were provided with firsthand experience of the daily duties and challenges faced by police officers.
Speaking to reporters, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar said, “We are organizing this program as a part of Tripura Police Week 2025 to provide the younger generation a comprehensive understanding of police operations and the process of handling public complaints, fostering a sense of trust and cooperation between the police and community”.
“This will also help to boost the spirit of students who dream of joining the police force in future”, he added.
Expressing happiness for playing the role of West Tripura SP, a student Tabassum Chakraborty said, “It feels like I have taken a step closer to my long standing dream. I want to become an IPS Officer and work for the welfare and protection of women who are subjected to various sorts of atrocities”.
A similar program was held at Arundhati Nagar Police Station on this day.
Officer in-charge AD Nagar Police Station while talking to the reporters said, “At today’s awareness camp, the students were introduced to various aspects of police work, including the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by police officers.
They learned about the processes involved in receiving and addressing complaints, giving them a clear picture of how complainants are treated and how their grievances are managed. This hands-on educational approach helped demystify the police force, allowing students to gain a deeper appreciation for law enforcement efforts within their community”.
“Additionally, students were educated on topics such as Crimes involving children, means to secure Women’s safety, Precautions to be taken while using social media, adherence to Traffic rules, Anti-drug laws”, he added.
Police officials further informed to conduct similar awareness camps in the coming days.
